Tandoori chicken is one of the most popular Indian dishes, but Indian food can be very intimidating to cook - unfamiliar ingredients, names that aren't always the most logical (psst.... butter chicken is actually made with very little butter!). This marinade makes the chicken so tender. This is also a great introductory dish to Indian cuisine. Only mildy spicy and flavours that aren't too intense - you will LOVE this easy recipe.
Serves 2
- 1 1/2 lb skinless chicken (drumsticks, thighs, breasts - whatever you like)
Marinade:
- 1/2 cup balkan yogurt
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp of garam masala
- 1 small onion
- 2 small garlic cloves
- 1 inch piece ginger
- zest and juice of 1 lime
- 2 tsp salt
Mix all marinade ingredients in a food processor or blender and puree until smooth. Coat chicken in marinade and refridgerate overnight.
Keeping some marinade on the chicken, grill chicken until cooked. Serve with naan bread or basmati rice. YUM!
